Out of Milk for iPhone
We’re happy to announce that Out of Milk for iPhone is now available on the App Store! Households members who have either Android or iPhone can now sync lists. Head to the App Store to download or just search for “out of milk” on your phone. Don’t forget to spread the word to your friends and family on iPhone!
A few things to note regarding the iPhone version:
- It requires iOS 6 and up. We ran into some issues that prevented the app from running on iOS 5.x even though that was our initial goal.
- It runs on the iPad and iPad mini but isn’t quite optimized for their display yet.
- Two Android features are missing but we’re working on them for the next release: adding items from history and sending lists by email or text.
Love Out of Milk app for Android….got a new iphone5 was glad to see the app for iphone however really would like to see the text the list, which comes in handy when someone other than you doing the shopping any idea when the update will be
When will the app be optimized for the iPad? Thanks,
Sharing between android and iPhone devices does not seem to work
It is very unfortunate that the app won’t run under iOs 5. I know tons of people who have not updated because of the maps mess and other issues. So I fear that this will prevent a lot of users from downloading it and the app will probably receive some bad rating because of it (even though that is not completely fair).
Still, nice to see that it’s finally out!
So love OOM!! Have on my Nook and android phone. But my husband just got a new Nokia phone with Windows8 and can’t get it!! Major drag!! Any chance you’ll be making a version compatible to Windows8?
Thank You so much for coming out with this app for iphone. I could not find another as good as this one
Please, make it for ios 5. I have Ipad 1 and can’t use your app.
Been waiting on this finally!!!! Thank you!
Great to get it for the iPhone – now me and my husband can have synchronised shopping lists. Was wondering whether it would be possible in future updates to have the option of setting minimum amounts for pantry lists that would automatically add an item to a shopping list if it goes below the minimum quantity? Thanks
Outstanding app !! Congratulations !!
After unlocking my ATT avail and blowing out all the bloatware to save the limited memory (400 megs) …. It was time to prioritize what I wanted to keep and what was just space hogging junk … needless to say I kept this one at the top of my list to SAVE !!
Love how you brought together .. tying the computer at home and the smartphone … and the scanner for products in the store … all and all a well thought out app that has saved me valuable time !! (at 67 it’s worth more then money)
Many thanks !!
Thank you for finally getting Out of Milk on IOS. I tried numerous shopping lists and they all lacked the elegance and simplicity of OoM. I even got my wife back to using a shared shopping list because of your app.
Comment: Why the price shopping list on the bottom of the screen on my mobile? It is unnecessary and takes up space. I paid for the app but that would be a good place for you guys to instead post ads for those who do not pay.
I’m glad that OOM for ios6 is finally out, but disappointed it won’t work on ios5. Maps are more important on my iphone and my ipad is version 1. At least the delays releasing OOM for iPhone mean that I’ve tested ‘Our Groceries’, which is quickly catching up with OOM for features and ease of use. I recommend that any others disappointed by OOM not being available check it out. Hopefully though, OOM will reconsider and release an ios5 version.
Was considering this app but I’m concerned about compatibility. I have an Android device and my better half has an iPhone. Can we use it on our separate devices and have it synchronise lists?
i loved this when i had my droid & was sad when i got my Iphone5 that it wasn’t available i tried all different ones but none could do what this does so thanks for having it now for the iphone
@justin: thanks for the tip with ‘OurGroceries’ which is doing totally what I was looking for and it only requires iOS 3.x and up.
I’ll happily switch back to OOM as soon as they lower the iOS 6 requirement but until then it is a good alternative.
I loved your app on my android but now I have Nokia phone with Windows 8. Is there an app for that?
Looking forward to an iPad-optimized version. We just stuck an iPad in our kitchen, but unfortunately it’s too hard to use OoM on it — hoping it comes out soon so we can switch back.
Please optimize the display for the iPad. Thanks.
I just got given an iPad 4 and one of the first things I checked the market for was ‘Out Of Milk’, as I use it regularly on my Android Galaxy 7 Tab. I was thrilled to see it’s available on Apple’s device, though I agree that an iPad resolution version would be fantastic. I was also very surprised to see that I didn’t need to buy the app a second time, as Apple’s market seems a lot more “everything costs and is expensive” compared to Google Play! Wonderful to see this app doing so well, and so glad I supported by getting the paid Android version (was one of those who begged for an outside-US one-time payment and bought when the devs listened!). Keep up the great work, folks!
Great app. One feature that would make it significantly better would be the ability to select whether completed items are displayed. If that can’t be done, you could alter the sort preferences to enable first sorting by completion and then by category (completed items for all categories display at the bottom, by catergory).
I have a 4S and iOS 6.1.2. Just found OOM and was happy it was available for iPhone. Playing with it while setting up my kitchen pantry items, it seems that it has everything we need to stay organized and can easily move items between the pantries and the shopping lists. However, I’m not sure how such a simple thing was overlooked… but how is it not possible to search a list? If I’ve got over 100 things in the pantry, even if they are organized into categories, 3 different people may not categorize things the same way. It would be wonderful if you could just type “pudding” and every item that has the word pudding in it would show up (scanning the UPC codes into my pantry list, I have 9 different Jell-O and Great Value puddings)! To find them scattered through the list (even if they are all under the Desserts category I created), it is still easy to miss that I may already have 3 different vanilla puddings.
Please please please add a search feature!
Really love the app. When are you going to make the newest release have the deals capabilities outside of the US.
I’m really looking for an app to keep an accurate record of my inventory. My son put toothpaste on my wunderlist shopping list, I bought 3 tubes only to get home and find another 4 I’d already bought. Does this have a scan out system so I can keep track?
