Out of Milk 2.6 Is Out!
UPDATE: Some users are reporting that they aren’t seeing the update yet. We’ve contacted Google regarding the delay.
UPDATE #2: It looks like it’s available now on the Google Play Store!
We’re happy to release a minor update to Out of Milk that adds a few features:
- Lots of new units: gallon, dozen, each, pieces, bag, bottles, box, case, pack, roll, small, large
- Get to your lists faster by creating a direct shortcut to any list. Learn how to add a shortcut.
- Tweaks and improvements to the new barcode scanner.
- Improved list importer on website. Now you can import any CSV file (Comma-separated values). You pick which column matches up to which field.
- Enjoy improved stability and performance.

How do I reset my password?
Hello André, you can reset your password here: http://outofmilk.com/ForgotPassword.aspx
And how do I get the update?
The update should be available for everyone. There was about a 1 hour delay from the Google Play Store before it was published. Amazon Appstore update will take a few days.
Everything good here, no problem on update and no problem on the actual working of the app. Good job!
Awesome! Glad everything worked out!
Hello, love the updates, and OOM as a whole! A couple of extra features would really make this shine… namely, the ability to add items to any list via email (I use my email subject lines for this purpose, would love it if i could send it directly to OOM this way) as well as Priority levels (4 or 5 would be nice) for all lists (on my shopping and todo lists, I like things sorted alphabetically, but sometimes there are a few important things I want to stand out up top!)
I don’t find how to create a direct shortcut to any list…. can you help me ?
To create a shortcut:
Go to one of your phone’s home screens
Press and hold in an open area
From the pop-up menu, choose Shortcut
Scroll down and tap Out Of Milk
Choose the OOM list you’d like to link to
Ref 2.6 update
I’m having the same problem. Can’t find how to creat short cuts to lists?
Thanks for your hard work with updates
John

Thank for your quick response. Works great!

I use OOM on two Android devices and the sync keeps adding items I deleted on my phone back in when I open it on my tablet. I would like to see the online lists be the authority for sync because it is difficult for me to actually delete anything.
To create a shortcut:
Go to one of your phone’s home screens
Press and hold in an open area
From the pop-up menu, choose Shortcut
Scroll down and tap Out Of Milk
Choose the OOM list you’d like to link to
The excellent OOM developers should probably include instructions like that in the release notes and/or in the document where you’re directed when you choose “Learn More”
Hello Grayson,
Thanks for pointing users in the right direction. I just added a new Knowledge Base article. Thanks!

I’m new to oom. Is there a way to link/sink the lists to google calendar so I can see both at the same time?
Hello John,
Currently there is no way to sync with Google Calendar. This may be something we consider doing in the future.
Did you also update the total area for each list? I don’t remember seeing balances for Total, Coupons, & Remaining. I love that!!! Super helpful. Thanks!
Any news on an iphone version yet??
Can you tell me when you’ll get this update out for Nook?
O.m.g…..IPHONE already I mean come on. I give up
Samantha,
I’m truly, truly sorry that the IPHONE version is not ready yet. We have not given up. We are a very small team and we are working full time on the iOS version almost 24/7. It is our absolute top priority and if I could have it ready by tomorrow to give to you, I would, but unfortunately no matter how fast we work it’s just not ready yet. Please keep your eyes open for our summer iOS release.
I gotta say, I’m actually thrilled and impressed that you focused on the Android version first. GO, ANDROID!!!!
We’re Android users ourselves, hence the focus
Is anyone else having a problem with the online version? When I try to edit an item on my list I can’t see the bottom of the screen (where it has the save, delete tabs) any more since the 2.6 update.
Michelle, you should contact us at http://support.outofmilk.com – We are really fast and will help you really quickly!
I would love to see the app on the Nook updated. Any idea when that will happen?
Thanks!
Update for the NOOK should be out now. Sorry for the delay. There’s an approval process for the NOOK, which is why it isn’t released instantly like the Google Play Store.
For the past 2 days been having alot of problems with Sync, Like it won’t sync. Having to print off list which is really getting to be a pain. Any idea when this will be fixed?
Hello Kevin,
We’re about to release an update to resolve several sync issues. In the meantime, make sure that Auto Sync is enabled, it’s a workaround for one of the issues. You can enable Auto Sync in the preferences.
Love, love, love outofmilk. A couple of things would make the experience much better for me, though – and one at least is most likely just a how-to question.
The categories are great. I have now got my list sorted into the aisles for the supermarket we shop at – saves so much time in the store! – though it took a while to set up. However, when I put in a new item, and go to the drop down menu, the categories are in a very random order. Given each of the categories is named starting with number, eg 05 – Softdrink and Cordial – I would have expected it to be in numerical/alphabetical order. What am I doing wrong?
Secondly, and probably a little more complicated – the barcode function is great. I don’t even mind having to teach OoM new items – and being in Aus, so far none of my barcodes have already been in the system, which is fine. But my husband also uses out of milk on his phone, and the synch-ing is great – but it can’t use the barcodes that I have inputted, which makes it so much double handling! Please, is there anyway around this?
Thanks,
Cat
Changes are great. Just a suggestion for a few more categories. How about adding: can, half gallon and carton for the groceries. Thanks for the update.
I got a Nexus 7 for Christmas. I chose the Out Of Milk app and downloaded it. But I do not see the bar code scanner on any of the shopping or pantry lists. What else do I need to learn?
More later,
Lynne
